A stock certificate is an
important document because it is the physical proof of the ownership of a
business unit by owning its share. Keeping track of the registration is
therefore very critical in
stock certificate administration, there are mainly five types of stock
certificate registrations:

Joint registration
When the owner of the stock wants to share
registration of the stock (the employee wants to take a co owner of the shares,
it is issued in the joint name.)
Custodial
registration- This necessary in case the owner is a
minor. There are other legal factors related to custodial registration and there
are different types of custodial registrations.
Trust registration-
This is special kind of registration; the name of the
trust, the name the beneficiary as well as the date for the trust instrument is
require to do this type of registration.
On death
registration- This is more a transfer case than
registration. When the stock certificate owner is dead, it is transferred to his
nominee or to his successor.
